JCB 418s AGRI

Wheeled loading shovels are a key part of any farm’s process, so the JCB 418S is designed to maximise productivity. Built using only the finest components – a Cummins engine, ZF transmissions and axles, and Rexroth pumps – it’ll last the distance too. And, with a high power-to-weight ratio, 173hp, 801Nm and a 180 l/min hydraulic circulation, it’ll perform to the max throughout.
It’s all-day comfortable – a comfy operator is, after all, a productive one. It’s also safe, serviceable and, with features like Eco mode and Auto Idle, it’s highly fuel-efficient too.

Unbeatable Performance

• This wheel loader’s Cummins QSB 6.7-litre engine produces a huge 129kW (173hp), with a peak engine torque of 801Nm at only 1500rpm for excellent response. The unit is T4i/3B-compliant without using an SCR or Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).
• Cycle times are fast on the JCB 418S: a variable geometry turbocharger provides increased performance at low engine speeds, while powerful twin variable displacement piston pump hydraulics can circulate a considerable 180 l/min.
• We’ve made sure that forward visibility on the 418S is excellent, while JCB’s optional quickhitch makes attachment changing on wheel loaders quick and efficient. The quickhitch is designed to be compatible with aftermarket attachments too.
• The high torque (HT) arm design on the JCB 418S provides parallel lift and great visibility to the loader end – ideal for multi-attachment use. Choose a HT high lift arm and you can use this wheel loader for working at height (hopper, trailer and spreader loading).
• For optimum cycle times and efficiency (across acceleration, hill climbing and roading applications), our unique 6-speed transmission provides torque convertor lock-up in every gear.
• JCB’s innovative electronic management can disconnect the clutch via the brake pedal for efficient, productive loader operation. This feature controls tractive effort via the transmission, diverting maximum power to the loader hydraulics and reducing service brake wear and fuel use.
• The JCB 418S wheel loader has been designed from the ground up to excel in agriculture. A high power-to-weight ratio and LSD axles are perfectly suited to agricultural applications.

Efficient by Design

• The JCB 418S’ Automatic Idle feature returns the engine to 700rpm after 30 seconds of inactivity, while Eco Mode limits engine speed to 1800rpm for reduced fuel consumption. Either way, productivity remains formidable.
• The torque lock-up 6-speed transmission means you can benefit from 100% efficiency in all gears with this wheeled loader. Closer gear ratios mean lower engine speeds in each gear for improved performance and fuel consumption.
• The JCB 418S’ hydraulic cooling fan automatically reacts to ambient temperature and adjusts the fan speed to optimise cooling, reduce fuel consumption and lower noise levels.
• JCB’s innovative variable displacement pumps feed a load-sensing valve block that only consumes power on demand, providing precise, efficient loader control. Unloaded spool valves lower the arms using gravitational – not hydraulic –¬ force, reducing fuel consumption.
• Our regenerative dump circuit improves cycle times. It also improves economy by reducing hydraulic power consumption.
• High back-off brakes reduce viscous drag during roading and rehandling, which boosts fuel efficiency.

A Quality Process

• The hydraulic and primary fuel tanks are both integral to the chassis, providing protection as well as structural strength.
• Finite element analysis and rig testing give the JCB 418S superior structural strength and durability. Cold cell testing guarantees starting performance down to -20˚C. Precision machining provides high tolerances and accurate location of pins and bushes.
• We use state-of-the-art manufacturing processes like robot machining, precision paint technology and innovative assembly techniques to guarantee the very highest levels of quality for the JCB 418S.
• The articulation joint on a JCB 418S has a heavy-duty box section – stronger than a single plate with boss. For added protection, the 418S’ steering rams are high up, and its hoses are routed through the articulation joint.
• There’s a heavy-duty centre pin and oversized bush on this wheeled loader’s articulation joint for even more durability, as well as twin taper roller bearings on the bottom box joints that can tolerate both vertical and horizontal loadings.
• The full-width rear counterweight protects the 418S’ cooling pack and the back end of the wheeled loader (including its rear lights) from damage.

Comfortably Superior

• Tilting and telescopic steering column on this loading shovel, plus a choice of loader controls means the JCB 418S operator is always comfortable – and therefore productive.
• To make the JCB 418S wheel loader even more ergonomic, there’s a range of seat options as well as a stylish, modern central dash display that provides machine health details, service requirements, operating information and more.
• There are air conditioning and automatic climate control options to create perfect working temperatures in this 3m3, quiet and well insulated cab.
• 3 or 4 spool hydraulics and a quickhitch enable many attachments to be used easily for extra versatility; using specialist attachments is easy with proportional auxiliary controls.
• The selectable loader arm detents mean operators can set loader arm height limitations, return to dig and float functions for improved safety and productivity on the JCB 418S wheeled loading shovel.
• JCB Smoothride load suspension limits shock loadings on the 418S, and therefore reduces material spillage and structural stress, as well as increasing operator comfort.
• Optional auxiliary flow rate control is fully adjustable on the move for precision attachment control; you can even select constant flow if you’re using rotary attachments on your wheeled loader.

Low Maintenance, Long Intervals

• Gain easy access to the wheeled loader’s engine bay and large single-faced cooling pack via the large single-piece bonnet. Daily checks and grease points are at ground level, and the battery can be easily accessed with no special tools required.
• An electronic monitoring system relays machine condition, giving real time alerts. This safeguards both the 418S and its operator.
• An optional auto-lubrication kit means this wheel loader will take care of its own greasing requirements, while the standard cooling pack (with optional reversing fan) will ensure cooling efficiency in environments with large amounts of airborne debris.
• Because it uses premium components like a Cummins engine, ZF transmissions and axles, Rexroth pumps, and Husco valve blocks, the JCB 418S has a long service life built in.
• Full hydraulic dual circuit braking with multiple oil-immersed disks gives this loader’s braking system a virtually maintenance-free lifespan. Grouped test ports mean you can check the braking, steering and hydraulic system pressures easily on a JCB 418S.
• The Cummins engine saves on service costs – because there’s no exhaust after-treatment, there’s no need for costly heat-resistant lube oils. An external pre-cleaner reduces build up into the air-filter too, extending service intervals.

Drive Safely

• The optional rear-view camera displays an unobstructed rear view on the JCB 418S’ in-cab colour monitor.
• Inclined, equally spaced access steps and well-positioned grab handles means there are three points of contact available at all times when climbing in and out of the wheel loader.
• The JCB 418S has superb all-round visibility, courtesy of interior mirrors, heated exterior mirrors, bonnet mirrors, large glass panels and narrow cab pillars.
• This wheeled loader offers an uncompromised operator viewpoint; the engine doesn’t require bulky exhaust after-treatment, so it’s extremely compact, housed beneath a sloping rear bonnet with the exhaust silencer and air intake filter both out of sight.
• Our in-cab electronic two-stage quickhitch isolation protects against uncontrolled release of attachments.
• A JCB 418S cab is isolator-mounted, compliant with ROPS/FOPS standards, and positively pressurised against dust. You can choose from fresh air, carbon and P3 – HEPA recirculation filters as well.

Efficiencies

The JCB 418S is designed to achieve incredible efficiency gains without sacrificing any performance or productivity. At the heart of everything is an extremely efficient T4i/Stage 3B-compliant Cummins QSB 6.7 litre engine, which produces peak power and torque at low revs. That gives this wheel loader not just great efficiency, but also great responsiveness; likewise JCB’s electronic management, with its progressive clutch cut-off feature.

For even more efficiency, the JCB 418S has an Automatic Idle system that returns the engine to 700rpm after 30 seconds of inactivity, while the Eco Mode limits engine speed to 1800rpm. Then there’s high back-off brakes, a hydraulic cooling fan that automatically adjusts fan speed to optimise cooling, and a 6-speed torque lock-up transmission for 100% efficiency in all gears.

Finally, unloaded spool valves lower the JCB 418S’ loader arms by harnessing gravitational forces; JCB Smoothride load suspension, meanwhile, reduces material spillage and, therefore, waste.
All things considered, the JCB 418S is quite literally loads more efficient than the competition.
